Plants of Canyon Trail Park, a guide to the park’s many trees
Did you know Canyon Trail Park has more than 40 kinds of trees and shrubs, more than half native to California?
In April 2022, David Ackerly, Dean, Rausser College of Natural Resources, UC Berkeley, led a fascinating tour of this park that was designed to learn about this arboreal diversity, appreciate the restored pond on Baxter Creek and a rock with Native American petroglyphs.
Ackerly, who lives near the park, spent much time during the Covid pandemic getting to know it better. His map and guide to the trees and shrubs of the park is invaluable. We hope you enjoy it.
